I  Stuff on a Sunday.

Because yesterday was Saturday.

Here are my 3 fav things this week.

I  Autumn colours on my nails

After doing a bloody good job of breaking my thumb nail it was off to the salon with me. I hate choosing colours, it takes me forever and I’m always afraid I’m going to choose something that clashes with everything I wear. This time I wanted to go with something a bit deeper then the summery colours I’ve had previously (bright red, aqua, pink etc) but I didn’t want something too cool tone. I ended up choosing “Diva of Geneva” by OPI, which I LOVE. Hopefully I can find a bottle somewhere, because I can see myself wearing this a lot. My ring finger is in an OPI liquid sand, which is such a crazy cool polish. I can never get over how thick the coverage is, given that it’s so glittery. Amazing stuff.

I’ve thinking recently that I need to take off my gels, because I don’t actually remember the last time I didn’t have fake nails. But I actually HATE filing my nails. It makes me feel sick, and I can only just stand other people doing it. So I know I’d never keep them up if I didn’t have too. Someone recommended SNS to me – but do you know if I can paint over or change the colour between refills? I don’t often do so, but I don’t love the idea of not being able too.

I  Coles Refreshing Citrus Soap

My husband is a soap bar kind of guy. He’s not into scrubs and loofah at all. Luckily he’s also not super fussy on what body cleaning product I pick up. But I do know that he loves things that smell like citrus and so this 5 pack seemed like a go. And when you get 4 bars for less then $2, how can you go wrong. Seriously you can’t.

Turns out, it’s actually pretty great. Usually cheap soap makes my skin feel dry and yuk, but this doesn’t, and the smell is gorgeous. Highly recommend for basic in shower body cleaning.

I  Urban Decay Sheer Revolution Lipstick

I really really really really really like this. Like, a lot. It’s creamy without being overly greasey, it wears off beautifully and it’s bright without being full on. It’s a fabulous way to wear interesting colours to work or in a more formal areana. I have this in Lady Flower, which is more pink then burgendy on my lips. Other colours I’m looking forward to picking up is Rapture (a deep purple) and F-bomb (so red). I may do a full review of these when I have a couple more, so look out for that. These retail for $32 and you can pick them up at Mecca.

Have a fav Sunday beauties!

I  Saturdays

ON A SATURDAY!!

Success is a thing people!

Let’s get into this, shall we?

I  THIS SONG.

Because it is super sexy, with funky retro sound and fun as lyrics. Who doesn’t want to Marvin Gaye?

I  ChiChi Matte Viva La Diva Lipstick

I have this one in Drop Dead Gorgeous, which is a deep dusty pink. My lips are naturally quite dark, and so actual nudes tend to make me look a bit sick. But this one works perfectly. The formula is really lovely, it gives a matte finish without drying, and whilst it isn’t transfer proof, it’s a lot better then a lot of my other lip products. It wears off nicely, and doesn’t go lumpy or feather during eating. Cannot wait to get more, well worth the money!!

I  my Personal Planner

Okay, so you might remember that I started designing my own A4 sized planner. Whilst I love my own design, I started to get a stuck because I wasn’t really sure HOW I wanted to use it, and what elements were going to be useful and what weren’t. Also printing 1 planner was turning out a bit costly for something I wasn’t 100% sure about. So I looked into getting a planning for 2015, so I could get more of a feel for it. Originally I had planned to get an Erin Condren, because, frankly, they seem to be the ultimate. But you can’t pick which month they start anymore, and cost wise, $50 is a lot for a planner, plus postage. Very expensive for something that’s now only good for 9 months. So I looked for an alternative. I came across personal-planner.com.au, which originally  I thought was an Australian company, but is actually Swedish with a sneak website registration. My intention is to do a full review in a couple of weeks, so I won’t go into too much detail here. But it is safe to say that I really like the layout and how is it is to alter it to suit my needs. Also, stickers are addictive!!!

I hope your Saturday has been filled with  😉 Wxo

No  Saturday (on Sunday)

As a general rule, I prefer to keep the content of this blog fairly up beat. I don’t like bitching about people or companies (politics aside), and so I hope you’ll forgive me for this No  post. But I just couldn’t keep it in any longer.

A few weeks ago I posted this review of my Violet Box beauty subscription box. I mentioned that I’d unsubbed from my others for budget reasons, and this was because I felt I wasn’t getting the service or value from them. One of those boxes (or bags, in this case) was by a company called Lust Have It. They were the middle ground price wise, and when I first started getting them, I loved everything that came! The bag it came in was super cute, and very handy as a make up bag, a pencil-case, etc. But it was always the last box (bag) to come in the month. And then instead of arriving in the last week of the month, it started to arrive in the first week of the following month. My October 14 bag was shipped after the 17th November. By some miracle the Dec box arrived before Christmas, and but for Jan everything fell apart once again.

I completely understand that pretty much the whole world comes to a stand still over Xmas/New Years. Totally get it. But it’s not like this stand still is a surprise. Christmas is kind of an annual thing, there is just no excuse to be ‘surprised’ by the fact that your suppliers are closed over this period. I think my biggest issue was the lack of communication. On Jan 31st, a post went up on Facebook to advise that the bags would be sent at the soonest on Feb 9th. And then they weren’t. In the end I didn’t even get a tracking number, but my Lust Have It Jan bag didn’t arrive until after 20th Feb. And I received a product that I’d also received in the December box. Not exactly the point of a sub box!! By this point I’d decided that the over-promising, under-delivering was enough of a reason to move on and close my sub. Money had not yet been taken for the February bag, and so I logged on the website and clicked “UNSUBSCRIBE” button in the “MY SUBSCRIPTION” section the website.

No harm no foul, it was fun while it lasted, but I was done now. As were lots of other people, going by social media.

Then on March 6th, two weeks after I unsubscribed, Lust Have It deducted another monthly fee from my paypal. When I logged back into my account, my subscription had gone from being INACTIVE to ACTIVE. I was not the only one. Lots of complaints were posted to the Lust Have It Facebook page with exactly the same story. Unsubscribed, but Money taken. The dodgiest part of all this, was that it seemed that all of the people who were still subscribed had been charged the week before, and the March 6th deductions seemed almost exclusively unsubscribed customers.

Lust Have It’s response was not that they had made an error, but rather that it was our fault. That none of us had unsubscribed properly (despite some customers having emails from their support team confirming their unsub). APPARENTLY the UNSUB button on their website DOESN’T DO ANYTHING and you actually need to email them to receive a link to a form and only after you’ve filled in that form will you be unsubscribed.

This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. WHY HAVE A BUTTON??

So with the refusal to refund, you would think that LHI would high tail those boxes out of the warehouse to their unhappy customers. Nope. Shipping started last week, but I don’t have a tracking number yet. Remembering this is a FEB bag. I’m not expecting it until at least the end of the week, so the 19th/20th March. I’ve seen some unboxings and frankly, I’m not excited. It seems that they’ve included a foundation AND a concealer in the bag. Which are two products that are pretty useless to you if they don’t match your skin colour. They’re not samples either. I cannot understand why they though that was a good idea (although, someone else noted that this foundation is now being sold for $10 on the company website) and I can’t imagine how they are going to catch up. There are other boxes that they sell that are more than 3 months behind. BUT THEY ARE STILL SELLING THEM ON THEIR WEBSITE.

Previously, Lust Have It was an excellent sub box, and I recommended them to friends and family. But I’m now saying STAY AWAY. At least until they get their shit together. But honestly, I can’t it happening anytime soon.

No  Lust Have It.

Sorry!! #notsorry

Have a fab sunday folks!

I  Saturdays. Or How do update your study nook for (almost) under $200!

It’s not that I didn’t like my old office furniture. I did. Stylish dark glass, lots of room to put everything (Literally. All the things were left on the desks), and funky levels for extra storage. But admittedly, when I designed the room layout, I was about a half a metre too short for the room to really work the way I had intended, and so the desk were pushed to the sides of the room, and never used properly. Rooms that need to serve more than one purpose are always a challenge, Continue reading

I  Saturdays!

So in the interest of making blogging a little bit easier (and therefore, achievable. See 2015goals) I’m going to make my weekend content some regular posts. On Saturdays, I’m going to post up my favourite things of the weeks. In the interest of entertainment and balance, I’ll also talk about anything I’ve frustrating or failed as well. Sundays will be a visual post of my weeks’ worth of Photo a Day images. Hopefully this will also encourage me to complete this program, because as a scrapbooker who doesn’t scrapbook often enough Continue reading
